50th Reunion Planning Committee
July 20, 2009
Group met at 6:30 at the DB Alumni Field House with the following present: Katie Taggart Driskell, Dick Odum, Sue Shaulis Thomas, Margaret Bray Slemp, Margaret Ketron Colley, Christine McConnell Barker, Kathy Morse Parham, Fred Begley, Pat Ferguson Meade, Jane Beck Harris, Paul Harmon, Doris Cox, Anne Morrison Garber, Sondra Dotson Bridwell, Sharon Deatherage Fults, and Linda Lamberth Robinson. Person who sent regrets: Carolyn Rice Cameron, Rita Bookhardt Deason, Pat Thompson Donaldson, Barbara Williams Coughenour, Janrose Dotson Gilliam, and Carolyn DeVault Tichenor.
Sue Thomas chaired this meeting. Sue, Barbara Coughenour and Katie Driskell are co-chairs for the 50th Reunion. A listing of Kingsport area persons will be attached to the minutes.
Dates for 50th Reunion are:
Caribbean Cruise – March 13-20 2010 - all interested let Margaret know by August First Friday.
Reunion – Kingsport – October 8-10 2010
Katie reviewed the 50+ classmates for whom we do not have confirmed contact information. Members present took cards and agreed to find out what they could on individuals. The information is to be returned by mail or email to Katie. Sue thanked all the class members who have helped in preliminary contacting of classmates.
Group agreed to casual dress for all parts of reunion.
Group discussed each of the topics in the table below and added suggestions and comments. The group then volunteered to help in areas as noted. Any assignments should be completed by the next meeting which will be September 21, 2009 at 6:30 PM at DB Alumni Field House. If location changes we will be notified.

Mailing Committee
To mail out the letters to non-email folks, mail out the books after reunion
Group will prepare mailing at one of spring meetings. Someone can then volunteer for mailing books
Video Production
Scan photos from annuals, past reunions, etc. Able to do photos, newspaper articles, slides. Will then put on a CD for use at Fri Nite. Will do CD of deceased.

Teachers – yes we will invite Other Classes – not much room on Friday nite. On Saturday – yes on individual basis We need to address the issue of class of 61 having reunion the week before ours.

Gift/Scholarship to DB
Group liked idea – Wanted more information on what the Alumni Foundation is about. We could allow classmates to include a donation with their registration. We could also make donation from what we have left.
Anne Garber is to bring information she has got from Lib Dudney at ‘59 reunion recently.
Gift Bags for Out-of-Towners
We did these for 45th – think Phil Baldwin did them. We will decide later if we want to do them again probably do

Future Meetings
September 21st, November 16th. After 1st of year may meet monthly. Each time someone will agree to coordinate simple refreshments for next meeting. September meeting Refreshments – see list
